DTF

Exceptional durability, vivid colours and the ability to print on almost any material. Discover DTF technology – a modern alternative to traditional decoration methods.

Modern technology and photographic quality

DTF (Direct to Film) is a revolutionary garment decoration method. Unlike older technologies, the design is not printed directly onto the fabric but onto a special transfer film. The wet ink is then covered with powdered adhesive, which after curing allows the design to be heat-pressed onto the fabric. This produces exceptionally sharp, saturated details and full colour coverage. Our maximum print area is as large as 40 x 45 cm.

Pros and cons of DTF technology

We want you to choose the best decoration method for your project. Learn about the characteristics of DTG technology.

Advantages

  • Material versatility - unlike DTG, DTF can be applied to cotton, polyester, softshell, nylon and fabric blends.
  • No primer marks - the technology does not require pre-spraying the garment with primer, eliminating the risk of marks on the clothing.
  • High flexibility and durability - the print moves well with the fabric, resists stretching, does not crack and withstands many washes.
  • Vivid colours - the white underbase on the film makes the colours exceptionally vivid regardless of the garment colour.

Disadvantages

  • Print texture - with large, solid, fully covered designs, the print can feel like a soft, flexible “rubber” layer (more noticeable than DTG).
  • Lower breathability - ink and adhesive create a barrier on the fabric, reducing breathability in areas with a large print.

How is the print made?

Your design goes through a carefully controlled process that guarantees an excellent final result

01

Printing on PET film

The design is printed as a mirror image onto a special film. The machine first applies the colour layer (CMYK), then precisely covers it with white ink that serves as the base.

02

Powder adhesive application

Immediately after printing, a special hot-melt adhesive powder is applied to the still-wet ink. The powder sticks only where ink is present.

03

Curing

The printed film with adhesive passes through a heating tunnel (or oven). At high temperature, the powder melts and bonds with the ink to form a uniform, flexible transfer layer.

04

Transfer onto the garment

The finished film is cut and positioned on the selected product. Using a professional heat press (high temperature and pressure), the adhesive is reactivated and permanently bonds the print to the fabric fibres. Finally, the carrier film is peeled away.
